Tascent MX certified by Nigeria’s NIMC to accelerate nation-wide biometrics enrollment for digital identity
Tascent’s multi-modal mobile biometric device, the Tascent MX, has been recommended as a capture device for Nigeria’s national ID enrollment program. The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Nigeria’s agency overseeing the process of issuing national biometric digital IDs (NINs) to Nigerian citizens within the Digital Identity Ecosystem, has certified Tascent MX as meeting the program’s rigorous specifications.
Tested and shortlisted among a few biometric capture devices, Tascent MX is uniquely placed to deliver multi-modal capture of biometric features and biographic details of the registrant in a single, integrated, compact device. Small and portable yet powerful and ruggedized, the device offers intuitive face, fingerprint, and iris biometric capture that enables enrollment of a citizen in just a couple of minutes. The device’s open software architecture supports existing algorithms approved for Nigeria’s program, running on a selection of Android smartphones.
Tascent’s mobile devices have proved their effectiveness in challenging mobile identity applications such as refugee support, workforce management, and law enforcement. Producing high-quality biometric images with minimal training, Tascent MX is an ideal solution for efficient and cost-effective citizen enrollment.
Tascent MX will support the project’s objective of providing digital ID numbers to at least 150 million Nigerians by 2022.
